It has been a while now since the team at Magic Lantern unlocked the ability to shoot RAW video on the new Canon 5D Mark III and several other bodies including the Canon 6D. Most of the footage that we have shared in the past was test footage, or footage comparing RAW to the standard H.264 video, but today we have a special treat for you.
Today Vimeo user Michael Anthony Visuals posted a great video showing the drastic difference between standard RAW video from the 5D Mark III and the Dual ISO video produced.
The team over at Magic Lantern has really been on a tear lately with all of the awesome new features that are adding to Canon cameras. The latest of which is the news they released today that they have increased the dynamic range of the 5D mark III and the 7D by 3 stops. So on the 5D Mark III that means a total of 14 stops of dynamic range, pretty impressive.
According to a post over on EOSHD the 5 year old Canon 50D is now (Thanks to Magic Lantern) a cinema camera capable of shooting RAW 1080 video. That is quite a feat considering that the 50D most people own does not even have a video mode.
