Term:
Description:A ring light is a circular light or flash with a hole in the center for a lens or phone. Ring lights are often used by vloggers to create flattering, even lighting, by fashion photographers for beauty shots, and by macro photographers for even lighting while close up.
Ring lights provide a diffused light source, similar to a soft box or an umbrella. However, because of the direction and the shape of the ring light, it creates a distinct look. In portrait photography, ring lights are used to create a distinct circular pattern in the catch light of the subject's eyes.
