Digital Zoom

noun
Term: Digital Zoom
Description:
Digital Zoom refers to a camera system that mimics the changing of a lens' focal length (its angle of view) by digitally cropping the image, without moving any physical parts of the lens. This can often result in less resolution or image detail, and is the opposite of Optical Zoom, which is when a lens does physically move the glass elements in a lens in order to achieve a different focal length and angle of view.
