CMYK

Term: CMYK
Description:
CMYK is a colorspace for print. It stands for Cyan Magenta Yellow Black, and these are the colors with which printers work. Conversely, monitors work in RGB - Red Green Blue. Photographers do not generally have to worry about working in CMYK as most inkjet printers will do their own conversion from RGB to CMYK. An exception is when sending images to be press printed. Paper goods like business cards, pamphlets and brochures will often require files to be sent in CMYK. When in doubt, look for a FAQ with requested colorspace for most accurate color rendering or ask someone at the company who will be printing for you.
