SLR Lounge is a photography education website founded in 2008 by Pye Jirsa and Chris Lin of Lin & Jirsa Photography. What started as a way to share real-world photography knowledge has grown into one of the most trusted resources for photographers at every level, covering camera and lens reviews, lighting education, posing, business, and post-production.
Our content is written and reviewed by working photographers — people who shoot weddings, portraits, landscapes, and commercial work professionally. That real-world experience is the foundation of everything we publish.

Authors and Contributors
Pye Jirsa is the co-founder of SLR Lounge and Lin & Jirsa Photography, one of Southern California’s most recognized wedding photography studios. He is the creator of SLR Lounge’s full educational library and has trained over 20,000 photographers since 2008 across lighting, posing, editing, and business strategy.
Sean Lewis is a photographer and staff writer at SLR Lounge, where he has been contributing as a writer, reviewer, and news journalist since 2016. Based in Southern California, Sean shoots family portraits with Lin & Jirsa Photography and Line and Roots, and his writing covers photography education, gear reviews, industry news, and business resources for photographers.
Chris Lin is the co-founder and CEO of SLR Lounge and Lin & Jirsa Photography. A former CPA who transitioned into photography during the 2008 recession, Chris brings a unique combination of business acumen and creative experience to his work overseeing SLR Lounge’s direction, content, and partnerships.
Matthew Saville is SLR Lounge’s lead camera and lens reviewer and a wedding photographer at Lin & Jirsa Photography. His dual background in professional wedding photography and wilderness astro-landscape photography gives his gear reviews a practical depth that lab testing alone cannot replicate. He has contributed to the Lensrentals blog and was featured on the Lensrentals Podcast.
Alice Houstons is a photographer and staff writer at SLR Lounge with over a decade of experience behind the lens. Based in Orange County, California, she shoots weddings with Lin & Jirsa Photography and specializes in family and newborn photography with Line and Roots, where she has photographed over 100 family sessions and 100 newborn sessions. Her writing spans photography education, gear guides, business resources, and industry news.
