Wide – Setting The Reception Scene
Like the ceremony details, shoot the reception details with the same storytelling guidelines in place and capture wide, medium, and tight shots. When setting the reception scene, you should look for the following elements:
- A primary hero (elaborate centerpiece)
- Complete reception setup (best angle)
- Property/venue/room features
Keep the venue and vendors in mind so that the details you’re showcasing can be shared on their social media platforms. Regardless of whether the setup is elaborate or minimalist, capture the details with the same guidelines that have been discussed throughout this chapter.
Mind the basics and avoid the following when setting the reception scene:
- Excessive open floor space
- Distracting background elements
- Guests/vendors in the frame
- Clothing/accessories on chairs
- Use partial views when necessary

HI, Question: You keep repeating that you photograph so vendors can use your photos for marketing, blogging, etc. How do you get rewarded for your work from those vendors? In other words, do you charge them for your photos?
