Donehttp://www.oricarmi.comEven though i am not sure all content is relevant for me as I live in a country where English is not a native language
Hi Ori: Thank you for expressing your thoughts. Basically, we are searching for free business directories to list in. Perhaps you are a Google search or two away from finding options in your language. Otherwise, the content creation portions of this will still be very beneficial!
Just finished! http://www.chriskeeleyphotography.com
nichilton.com Just finished with the first assignment. I did want to ask what you recommend for putting my location as on these directories, if a lot of my business is in another area or destination? (EX. 75% of my business and target clients get married about 3 hours from where I actually live)
Hi Nic: There are two sides of the argument. I’m assuming that where you live is a smaller area with less demand correct? And where you get 75% of your business is a larger city with more demand? Doing well for search in a smaller area could be a great way to start and will be easier to achieve (big fish small pond). Just make sure you put your main keyword into the keyword planner to verify that there is actual search volume in that smaller city. If there is little search demand or very few opportunities, however, go for the bigger city.
Finished with lesson 1. I signed up for all the profiles except 500px and Fstoppers because I wasn’t sure if it would be appropriate for me to list a wedding photography business in these directories. http://jaleaphotography.com
Both have wedding categories. I would suggest listing in both. It’s rare to find high quality sites that offer “dofollow” links. Both of these do that.
Done for now. We had several sites partially completed, this was a great push to complete them and add additional sites. Now to get started on the next assignment. Thanks for setting this up as assignments, makes it easier to complete in pieces week-by-week.
You’re welcome! Thanks for being a part of it!
I signed up for everything but bing, which doesn’t apply to my country. Still need to upload photos on these profiles. Thanks!
scottmadrigalphotography.com, Done with lesson one but my site is in desperate need of an overhaul, as most saw in the biz course (Pye would kill me if he saw my site still looks the same!)
How much of this will I want to do before the relaunch? Or should I wait until that is completed and then capitalize with first time visitors coming to a nicer site rather then trying to get them to come back?
Thank you Chris for doing this!!!
if you’re doing a relaunch soon, then I would focus more on creating niche pages for now since those won’t change when your template/theme does.
I was thinking the same thing…. but progress over perfection in my 2019 mantra! I’ll re-do what needs to be done once I FINALLY get my rebuild done… which could be a long time from now.
kivusandcamera.com – done except for adding photos to new accounts, which I plan on doing tomorrow in conjunction with my quarterly portfolio update :-D
awesome! yes having your best photos up is going to be great for your biz.
I’ve still got a few page title and meta data issues to sort out, so if that’s going to be covered in future assignments, that’s great. If not, I’ll take care of it separately.
Thanks for putting this course together, Christopher Lin. It really is like having a personal trainer to make sure you do all the s**t that is too often left until “another day”.
lassenpeakphotography.com. Finished for now…agree with others that it took quite a few hours to complete over the course of several days, but I’m hoping that’s a one-off and we won’t have to spend hours ongoing to continuously update all these additional services. And it looks like we’re supposed to upload photos other than a profile photo for some of these? Anyone know for which of these sites it’s truly necessary? I’ve primarily used FB connected to Twitter up until now for sharing my work, other than on my website and in-person.
Not done yet but I probably won’t be able to get to week 1 assignment until Sunday. So wanted to add my website in the meantime. http://jaleaphotography.com
https://www.tomschelling.com — Complete!
I was only able to pause my Google Ad-words campaign, not remove it. Will that keep me from being charged? Do anyone know how to remove it?
I don’t know if it will keep me from being charged, but I was not able to remove the campaign either.
I believe you may only be able to pause it now … but you should be fine as long as you don’t resume.
Christopher Lin I was already setup on Google analytics, webmaster tools and have a sitemap submitted so I only had to create profiles on the suggested sites. Probably took me about 3 hours to complete.
Phew! All done!
I use Zenfolio for my Website. I figured out how to connect Google Analytics to it and I also found my Sitemap. But Could you please include Info for Zenfolio Websites in Future assignments? Thank you.
Does anyone know how to get bing to verify ownership of a Smugmug based site?
First assignment completed, that took quite a bit of work! Looking forward to the rest of the course! http://www.alexbucklandphotography.co.uk
if you don’t mind me asking … roughly how long did it take you? I’d love to know for future reference. Do you think it was too much for one week?
Thank you for the help, my SEO work has been poor at best. I’ve spent a good bit of time on this tonight. Thank you.
(First Ever SLR Lounge Post, great site thanks for having me!)
welcome! let’s rock this!
So I would agree. It definitely took quite a bit of time but it’s only because(at least for me) I didn’t have everything ready. Like you said at the end of the blog… we should save a description/about as well as a few great photos in a folder that we can reference moving forward. So although it took awhile to get going now that we know what to expect it shouldn’t be as long
When I try to create a google plus page (for my SLR lounge profile Google tells me I already have a Google My Business page (which I do) and takes me there but I can’t figure out how to get to the Google Plus page. It seems like I remember reading that Google was doing away with Google plus?
I just used backlinkwatch.com and it shows no backlinks for northernlightsstudio.net however monitorbacklinks.com shows 45 total backlinks. Any idea why they might be reporting differently?
I also created some other accounts to link with fstoppers and vimeo since they asked for them. I guess that will make more connections.
All done! I had already been using Adwords, and Analytics, made the process pretty easy!
good to hear! excited to have you on board.
My site is http://www.beckysteffensphotography.com. I just signed up for everything- but Bing was being a little wonky so I’ll try that again tomorrow. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
http://www.faulknerphotography.net – finished! So far, so good!
I started as a wedding videographer hence the name however, I have been doing more photos lately and I have added Ambrocio Photo Films to my name altho I my website domain has remained http://www.ambrociofilms.com. Will this confuse clients? Should I change the domain or keep it the way it is?
I ran a backlink check (via backlinkwatch.com) and didn’t see any back links, so you won’t be losing too much (if any) link value if you change domains now. Do you know if you’re going to focus more on film or photo in the future? If photo, then the decision is easy. I would change domains for sure. If film, then you can consider keeping your domain and branching it off later into its own domain if that side of the business continues to grow.
My site is smugmug based. Will these tools for for it?
Good to know! I’ll try to include as much info for smugmug websites in future assignments
or is it just the link to the sitemap ie. https://www.gregmossphotography.com/sitemap_index.xml
yes, just the sitemap.
My site index created 10 links. Do I submit each link to google webmaster tools?
Nevermind, found it.
