Wardrobe and Spacing
As photographers, our job is to make clients look their best. To help with your subjects’ posture, ask them to breathe in before taking the shot. When they breathe in, their chests will expand and they will appear to stand up straighter.
The clothes they wear will also impact the shape they appear to be in. During the talk through, on the topic of wardrobe, be sure to mention that clothes should be:
- Form fitting
- Not overly tight/loose
If your subject’s wardrobe is unflattering, you can use posing to conceal it.
Spacing and gaps between the arms and body can also help define curves and have a slimming effect on a subject’s appearance. Space between the legs will also define the form and function of the legs and avoid making two legs look like one, especially if the subject is wearing dark pants.
