Photographers get so caught up in capturing the intimacy of portraits that it doesn’t occur to most to step back and truly assess the scene. When you walk into a setting/room make it a point to analyze what you have to work with both in terms of wide and tight shots. In most cases, couples have chosen their engagement venue or wedding venue based on certain aspects of architecture, landscape, or art. Keep that in mind as you location scout and find what works best for your vision of photography.
