Pose Duplication
When directed to “hold each other,” couples will often strike duplicate poses. In a closed pose, they will face each other with their elbows bent at 90-degree angles and their hands either resting on one another’s forearms or hips. This works for a more traditional, clearly posed portrait, but it won’t work if you’re after a photojournalistic look. Under normal circumstances, people do not mirror each other’s pose. Luckily, the remedy is simple: Stagger the placement of the hands and arms.
