Wedding Workshop Eight | Photographing The Reception: Pinned OCF
If you guessed that pinned off-camera flash is the ideal way to light bouquet and garter tosses, you’d be correct. This setup works in any scene/location and only takes 2-3 minutes to setup; it also requires 1-3 lights and light stands (more often needing only 2 lights and stands).
Capturing the bouquet and garter tosses requires a bit of setup and direction in terms of placing your subjects in relation to the audience so that you can get the best angles and provide the most context in each frame. We’re looking for the audience’s reaction, so we’ll want to shoot toward the audience.
This setup will light the couple from a more dramatic angle. Be careful to not stand in front of the lights and cast a shadow onto your subjects.
This option adds a rim light with the “D” flash.
