Overlap Vs. Spacing
The effects of spacing between subjects cannot be overstated. Perhaps they can, but know that spacing between subjects creates a sense of individuality while overlapping subjects creates a sense of togetherness.
We recommend matching spacing/overlap so that there’s balance in the image. Also, create slight overlap/touchpoints or none at all; don’t lose too much of any one subject behind another.
