Large Group Considerations

Photographing large group portraits requires a few extra considerations:

  1. Amplify your presence! (Don’t yell, but ask warmly/loudly for attention)
  2. Immediate family should stand inside, closer to the couple
  3. Find scene with layers (such as a mandap stage)
  4. Create layers (sit/kneel/stand)
  5. Tall in back/children front
  6. Head between shoulders
  7. Camera angle higher (ask if they can see)
  8. Watch shadows
  9. Don’t conceal bride & groom
  10. Multiple clicks
  11. Closed apertures (f/5.6+)
