Goals For Photographing The Milky Way
There are several goals for photographing the Milky Way, including the following:
- Location scout and plan in order to find an optimal location: You’ll need to figure out where to go ahead of time to capture that ultimate shot, and find out whether or not you’re even allowed to be there (at certain times, at all, etc.). Other things to look out for include weather as well as light pollution in the area.
- Achieve sharp images without motion blur.
- Arrive at a proper exposure setting: The exposure on the back of your camera may not actually look how it appears. You’ll need to use your histogram and other methods like taking multiple exposures to dial in the perfect exposure.
- Find interesting compositions using foreground elements.
