Free Lens
Free lenses are usually old lenses that are taken apart and repurposed to produce a very special effect. The lens does not actually mount onto the camera, hence the name “free” lens, and is instead held close to an open camera (with no lens mounted) to create dramatic natural light flares, light leaks, and soft focus effects. To use this effect well, you will need to put in time to practice. We recommend not using the free lens technique in harsh weather (rainy, dusty, etc.) as your camera body will be exposed to the elements.
