THE FILM STRIP
The Film Strip is a useful tool that’s located on the bottom of Lightroom. We have 3 reasons why we love the Film Strip, and we’re going to share them with you so you can take advantage of this incredible tool inside of Lightroom!
1. QUICK ACCESS FEATURES
You can find the quick access features of the Film Strip on the top left of the strip. From left to right we can quickly access our Secondary Display, different view modes, and we have a back and forward button that will take us through our actions or locations we came from. We also have the option to choose recent sources based on Smart Collections or recent folders we’re viewing.
2. YOU CAN SEE WHAT PHOTOS YOU HAVE IN YOUR CATALOG AND THEIR RATINGS
When you look at your images in the Film Strip you can see what ratings, flags, or colors you’ve applied to your photos. This is especially useful in Loop View when you’re only viewing images one at a time in your working area.
3. THE FILM STRIP IS GREAT FOR CULLING
The Film Strip is a great tool for culling because we have quick filter options on the top right of the strip. With the different filter options you can choose what photos you want to view. For editors who go through thousands of photos, this is an incredibly useful feature.
Whether you’re culling with Flags or rating with stars, the quick filter option will show you the photos you want to see and edit. If you want to see other photos or all the images, you can change your filter criteria anytime.
