Woo hoo, finally the boys at Microsoft have added camera RAW support to Windows 7! What does that mean? Well, that means that you can now view your RAW images in Windows Explorer, Photo Gallery, etc, without the use of 3rd party software!
The current Microsoft Camera Codec Pack supports pretty much every major camera brand and model and will be updated frequently with the release of new major camera models.
Simply install the Microsoft Camera Codec Pack and you are set! Check out the original blog entry on the Windows blog by clicking here.
Enjoy!

I run Win 7 x64. Installed, doesn’t work. My cam is Canon 7D
The codec pack worked great and I can see my raw files. I had to look for proprietary .cr2’s to see if it worked, since I have been converting to .dng for some time and those are not in the list for this release. I hope they add this open source standard in a future version.
But it doesn’t support EOS 600D :/
I am sure they will be continually adding more cameras, so long as the demand is there.
