Well, it seems that those rumors about an upcoming ultra-wide 11-24mm F/4L from Canon were legit. In their excitement to post the new 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6L IS II, Canon Germany also accidentally posted the new listing for an 11-24mm F/4L.

The listing was quickly removed, but -as we all know- once its on the interwebs, it doesn’t come off. Several people noticed the Canon leak, and were able to get screenshots and details about the lens from the page.

The EF11-24mm 1 : 4L USM is the longest ultra wide-angle zoom lens for full frame cameras by Canon. It is characterized by the completely new design, new lens coating and its unrivaled performance.

Now if Canon Rumors has the information correct, this new lens -whenever it is officially announced by Canon- will have a price tag of around $2899 US. It is no secret that Canon users have long wanted a lens similar to the Nikon 14-24mm F/2.8G. It will be interesting to see if this lens does it for them. I have a feeling that the max aperture of F/4 may turn at least a few of them away.

There is no new information on this lens, like specs or an expected release date. But you can get updated on the latest information about this rumor from our previous post. Stay tuned and we will update you again if anything new crops up…
