I can proudly claim that I was the guy at the SLR Lounge crew that discovered the Silicon Power Rugged Armor A80 1TB USB 3.0 Hard Drive, and made it into a popular staple at our office. Even today, as we’re doing some drilling on a cabinet next to my table, I noticed some sawdust on it. I just blew the sawdust off and continue away. But of course, what I ran into today is nothing compared to what Benjamin Von Wong did with his A80 hard drive.
Ben was very curious to see just how tough these little drives are, so he took it upon himself to take one of his own drives and drop it, burn it, and wash it, but in his own special way. Be sure to check out the video and enjoy his antics!
Also, he is looking to do a sequel video and wants to know what you want him to do to the hard drive, so be sure to visit his Youtube video page and leave a comment. Whichever three get the most votes will be three he will do to the hard drive: Benjamin VonWong YouTube
By the way, we have about 8-9 of these drives in the last 6 months, and so far, they have all lasted with no problems. Plus, they are super quick, especially in USB 3.0 mode.

I am ready to pick one up…
When Silicon Power advertise these drives as “military grade”, I guess they’re not kidding!

Damn, I wish I would have seen this earlier. I just had to replace another external hard drive. I work in the oil industry, and those poor things take a beating. Definitely going to keep this one in mind.
