Voigtlander Announces New Wide Angle Sony FE Lenses
It was announced today that Voigtlander will be launching three native Sony FE mount lenses this upcoming Spring (2016). The new lenses will be 10mm, 12mm, each featuring a F/5.6 aperture, and a 15mm featuring a F/4 aperture.
The 12mm and 15mm lenses are already available in the VM mount, but the 10mm lens is a completely new design that will also be available in the standard Voigtlander VM mount. The advantages here for Sony shooters is that these lenses will be able to communicate with the camera, unlike when an adapter is used, allowing for lens corrections, full metadata collection, and other Sony system advantages.
There has not been any price announced at this point, only that the lenses will be available in the Spring of 2016. If you would like to learn more, you can find the full press release over on the Voigtlander website here.
Fuji 1.4X Teleconverter to be Announced Alongside 35mm F/2, Rumors Say
The Fuji rumor mill does not quite have the reliability and prestige that we are used to with the Canon and Nikon sites, but this rumor seems fairly likely. According to a new Fuji Rumors report, Fujifilm will announce a new 1.4x teleconverter along with their upcoming 35mm F/2.
The report goes on to say that the two new products will be announced officially on October 21st, with both the 35mm F/2 and the 1.4x teleconverter being available just in time for the holiday shopping in mid-late November.
No word yet on pricing or if we can expect anything else from Fuji, but an October 21 announcement is just ahead of Photo Plus, meaning we will likely be able to see these new products in person here at the end of the month. I am looking forward to seeing what Fuji comes up with…
More EOS M10 Leaks
We now know the official name of the entry-level Canon EOS M that is expected to be announced any time now. The camera will be called the Canon EOS M10, a good name choice in my mind, even though I keep trying to call it the E-M10. The camera could be announced later today, so stay tuned.
Below we have some more images and the official leaked specs:
- Sensor: 18MP CMOS APS-C
- LCD: 3″ 1.04 million dots
- AF: Hybrid CMOS AF III w/facial recognition and tracking
- Kit Lens: EF-M 15-45 f/3.5-6.3 IS STM
- Two Lens Kit:EF-M 15-45 f/3.5-6.3 IS STM & EF-M 55-200 f/4-6.3 IS STM
- Cheaper than the EOS M3
- Weight: 301g
- EF-M 15-45 f/3.5-6.3 IS STM $299 on its own
I still think it looks like a cross between a G7X and the original EOS-M. I would be lying if I said I didn’t like how it looks, but no EVF and a primarily touch-screen controlled camera is not something I will be adding to my kit.
Canon is on the right track here in a lot of ways; now just figure out how to get a pop-up EVF in there and give me some customizable physical buttons, and then we can talk…
