Super Savings on NEC, Canon, and Samsung | Deal Dash

By Anthony Thurston on July 11th 2015

This is our daily deals report where we will feature a deal, or deals, which we think you should know about. Feel free to let us know about any deals you run across by sending me an email (link in my profile) or leaving a comment below!

We are photographers and what we process our images on is almost as important as what we shoot them on and what we print them on – in some cases, even more so. Getting your hands on a good quality post-production monitor can have a great effect on how well and how consistent you can process your imagery.

This NEC 27″ monitor is a great option, and with a normal price tag of about $1300, it’s probably out of ‘impulse buy’ territory and into ‘save for months to buy’ territory. But with a deal like this one, which will get you a full $300 off, it’s hard not to at least try to rework the budget to get your hands on one.

If you are interested, you can grab them over on B&H now for just $999 (limited supply though, so jump on it quick!). It’s a killer deal for an amazing post-processing monitor.

Canon 24-70mm f/4L IS

I am not a huge fan of mail in rebates, but this was a good deal, so I figured I would share it. The Canon 24-70mm f/4L IS is a great lens for those who may not need the best low light performance in the world. If you shoot a lot of well-lit video or landscapes, then this would be a killer lens for you.

It’s also only $799 after a nice $200 mail-in rebate, making this an even better deal than normal. If you are interested, you can order yours now over on B&H.

Samsung 16mm F/2.4 Pancake Lens

Samsung is making waves in the photography industry with their recent release of highly compelling cameras like the NX1 and NX500, but as with many fairly new the the market companies, the lens lineup has left many wanting more.

The 16mm F/2.4 Pancake lens is one of those lenses that really highlights the advantages of the Samsung system. Add this to either the NX1 or NX500 and you have yourself an incredibly small, lightweight, and high quality 24mm (FF equiv.) field of view for street photography, portraits, landscapes, whatever.  Right now it’s $100 off, too. You can pick one up over on B&H for just $249 ~ a pretty good deal if you ask me.

New Stuff Now Available

Fujifilm XF 90mm F/2

The 90mm features a ~135mm equivalent FF field of view, making this lens an incredible portrait lens for headshots  and other tightly cropped styles of portraiture. This Fuji XF 90mm f/2 also incorporates a Quad Linear Motor for quick, quiet, and precise autofocus performance.

This is the telephoto portrait lens that Fuji shooters have been waiting for! It is also now available over at B&H for just under $1000 ($949).

I own that 24-70 f/4L IS and I love it. Light, sharp, fast-focusing and weather-sealed.

What very few people talk about on that lens is a staggering 0.7x max mag, which is unheard of for a non-macro lens. You zoom to 70, flip a switch, and you’re in macro world, and the AF works fine. When I’m traveling or hiking, this lets me leave the 100 macro at home. Working distance is tiny, and I wouldn’t recommend it for more staged macro work on a tripod, with rails, focus stacking, etc. but if you just want to get close to something, it’s a terrific feature.
