Street Zen: Walking Meditation Photography by Rinzi Ruiz

By Jules Ebe on November 4th 2013

It may come as no surprise that I love street photography. There is something overwhelmingly simple and profound when you come across a moment in time, a connection to another individual, or a shadow cast from a massive structure. That moment draws the lens to remember, to capture.

It would seem I am not the only one that feels that way.

Los Angeles-based photographer, Rinzi Ruiz started as an enthusiast that quickly became devoted to the art. His work is often characterized by a distinct emphasis on the interplay of light and shadow. His black and white images capture a type of moment that is almost reflective, zen-like. Quite the task when photographing a busy urban setting.
