Spinpod brings motion controlled panorama and timelapse to mobile phones | Kickstarter Highlight

By Anthony Thurston on June 5th 2013

Spinpod is a new Kickstarter project from Los Angeles based Zhiping Chen and Daniel Aharoni, and it is designed to be the go to tool for motion controlled timelapse and panoramas on mobile phones and small action cameras.  The team put together this informational video that tells you all about the device, so check it out and we can talk more after the video.

I think this is really neat. I’m not sure that I would attempt anything bigger than a GoPro on this guy, but from what I saw in the video it looks like a nifty product for smaller cameras.

In panorama mode the Spinpod continuously rotates while your phone or camera creates the panoramic picture. This can be done with delays of 5,10,or 15 seconds. The Spindpoid also has an impressive motion timelapse mode with .5, 1,2,5,and 10 second step intervals to give you exactly the sort of timelapse motion you are looking for.

This is a great product for anyone looking to improve their mobile photography and create higher quality panomrama or timeplase videos. The project has 25 days remaining and is currently at a little over 1/3 funded out of their $75,000 goal. If you are interested in backing this project you can do so on the Spinpod page over on Kickstarter.
