Sony NEX-6/7 Replacement To Be Announced In February, Availability in April. [RUMOR]
We are back with more from the rumor mill, and this time around we have some information hot off the Sony rumor press. According to the latest reports, Sony will be releasing a new “high end” APS-C E-Mount camera which is expected to replace the Sony NEX-6 and Sony NEX-7.
This is pretty interesting news, especially with Canon expected to release a 7D replacement this year as well. According to the report, this new Sony APS-C camera would “have a much faster AF, faster imaging processor and improved Image Quality and EVF.” So, it will be interesting to see if it can hold a candle to the very impressive DSLR that the 7D replacement is rumored to be.
The rumor states that this new Sony camera is expected to be announced in February and available by April at around $1100 (800 euro). No specific date is mentioned. If you ask me, I think this is very likely, especially with some of the deals on NEX-7 cameras lately. Seems like retailers are trying to clear stock, which usually means a new model or replacement is about to drop.
What are your thoughts on this rumor? Now that Sony has ditched the NEX moniker, what do you think this new beast could be called? Can a mirrorless camera like this rumored Sony even compete with a high end APS-C DSLR like what the 7D replacement is rumored to be? Share your thoughts below to join in the discussion!
