SLR Lounge Lightroom Presets v5 Teaser

By Pye Jirsa on July 22nd 2013

Introduction

The SLR Lounge Lightroom Presets has been recognized as an industry standard in Lightroom Image processing. We’ve been hard at work, taking the Lightroom 4 Preset System, and making it even better. The new Lightroom Presets v5.1 is compatible with both Lightroom 4 and Lightroom 5. We’ve added 95 new presets for a total of 311 presets, 278 develop presets, 30 adjustment brush presets, and 3 image export presets.

We not only added 95 new presets, but we also went through the existing presets, improving overall image tonality and quality. We also renamed the presets in a practical and descriptive way, getting rid of names like “nostalgic corvette”, so you know exactly what the preset does just by reading the name. The presets help speed up a photographers workflow, making it easy to apply affects in a matter of seconds, rather than applying them manually which normally takes much longer. Users of the Lightroom Preset can go through and try out many different look and effects very quickly.

We use an acronym to help our approach to develop photos, BCAS. BCAS stands for Base, Curves, Adjust, and Special Effects. We start with our Base presets to help us get our photos to look how we want them, and there are about 70 Base Presets to help you get your photos to a professional look that you want. If you want to further modify your photo, then you go to your Curve Presets. These presets modify an image’s contrast and colors and there are 80 presets to help you modify your photo to your liking. After you’ve selected your Base and Curve then you can go through your Adjust presets to help fine tune your image. With 80 Adjustment presets, fine tuning your image is quick and easy. Finally, if you want to apply a Special Effect, we have included 32 great Special Effect presets to choose from.

We’ve also kept the previous presets in the new Lightroom Presets, and those can be found in the “Legacy” portion of the presets panel. There are also 30 brush presets which are specifically designed for professional retouch and other image enhancement techniques.
