Canon or Nikon, Nikon or Canon? To some photographers it is a question that gets asked whenever a new camera is released. But one thing that almost always keeps you with whatever system you own is the daunting task of trying to sell and replace all of your glass. Today Sigma announced a new lens conversion service that will switch out lens mounts, for a price, so if you do change camera systems you can keep your glass (well, your Sigma glass anyways).
This new service will cost between $80 and $250 per lens depending on the focal length of the lens, and will be available on all of Sigma’s latest Global Vision line of lenses. You will be able to choose from a Sigma, Sony, Pentax, Nikon, or Canon mount to have your lens converted to. If you happen to have a mirrorless Sigma lens then your choices are more limited, you can choose between a Micro Four Thirds mount or a Sony E mount.
This new service will begin September 2nd 2013, and all of the conversions will take place at Sigma’s factory in Aizu, Japan. All converted lenses will also come with a 6 month warranty.
