Samsung Partners With Joseph Gordon-Levitt To Promote NX1

By Anthony Thurston on October 24th 2014

I am still patiently excitedly waiting for my opportunity to review Samsung’s impressive new NX1 flagship camera. But if you had any doubts about Samsung’s push to gain ground in the photo market, look no further than their latest partnership with actor/filmmaker Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The focus of the partnership, between Samsung and Gordon-Levitt’s production company ‘hitRECord’, is a project called “In a City.” The project will be a short film, shot in 4K on the new Samsung NX1, which will be inspired by cities around the globe. The short will be directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The best part is, you can join in the process and be a part of this awesome project. The unique thing about Gordon-Levitt’s production company is its open collaborative concept. Today, Gordon-Levitt released this video calling for your help to get the project rolling.

I am pretty impressed by this whole project, and concept. I may even try and contribute a bit myself. I am very curious to see the direction this takes and how this all turns out. For more information on the project, you can head on over to HitRECord for the full skinny.

I will get my first chance to see (and hopefully test out a little), the Samsung NX1 next week at the Photo Plus Expo in NYC. Several of your favorite writers from the SLR Lounge team will be there covering the event, so make sure to say hi if you see us out on the show floor!

The footage of him talking? Yeah, the lighting/color is a little off, but we don’t know what he is even filming it with. As for the demo footage he shot with the NX1, which you can find on the website I linked to, actually looks pretty good in my opinion.
