Samsung recently announced a new WiFi enabled version of their Android powered Galaxy Camera. In case you have not heard about this, the Galaxy camera is powered by Android 4.1 meaning the camera has access to all off the photo apps that we have come to love and enjoy.
This new WiFi enabled version joins the current 3G version, and is expected to retail at around $450. That is not too bad of a price point, considering the access to android apps and the ability to upload straight to twitter/facebook/instagram right from the camera. It’s a much better sensor/lens combination – 16.2MP and a 21x Optical Zoom – than what you have got on your camera phone, so if you’re looking to improve the quality of your instagram images (without “cheating” and uploading pics from your DSLR) this could be a good option.
You can get the full details of the camera from Samsung’s official website, here. or Buy the 3G version from Amazon.
My Thoughts
I think that this could be a great family camera, or vacation camera. Obviously it is not meant for professional uses, but how cool would that be to have a DSLR powered by android? D400/70D anyone? In all seriousness I can see this as being the perfect gift for a teenager or new parents of the “share everything” generation. Personally though, ill stick to my D7000 and crappy camera phone.
What do you guys think? Is this camera worth $450 to you? Let us know in a comment below.
