From Puppy to 3 Year Old Dog in 23 Seconds | Rhodesian Ridgeback Time-Lapse

By Hanssie on December 7th 2014

Babies (both the human kind and furbabies) grow up so fast, don’t they? In the blink of an eye, suddenly you have a sassy pre-teen on your hands that you have no idea what to do with.

In May, we adopted a 2 month old, 15lb puppy and now, 7 months later at 60+lbs, she is losing her puppy face and looking more and more like an adult dog :( It’s hard to see how fast they grow and the subtle changes in their looks when you snuggle with them every single day until one day all 100lbs of dog and slobber is tries to hop into your lap while you’re watching TV.

Rhodesian-Ridgeback-1

Senior Art Director Sam Coffin made the following timelapse video, Sophia Grows, of his Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy. Coffin and his wife started photographing Sophia each weekend when Sophia was a two month old ball of fur, up to the present day three-year-old full grown dog that Sophia is now. The 23 second video shows Sophia’s development over that time period and then the footage is reversed until Sophia is back as a puppy. Included are outtakes of Coffin’s wife, Amanda, trying to wrangle the dog and try to get Sophia to cooperate and stand still for the photos. Quite the feat and pretty funny as well.

    Very cute time-lapse.
I appreciate the effort that goes into making a time-lapse spanning 3 years. But as a constructive critique I think that the photographer should have added some other object to the image to help up judge the size of the puppy. It was only the electric outlet that helped us realise how big Sophia was getting.
A basket, dog house, vase, person, table, door, window, anything would have helped make the scene.
That’s just my personal opinion and should not take away from the great idea and the hard work that went into making the time-lapse.
