Pyrotechnics, Tesla Coils, and Paris at Night | Behind the Scenes with Von Wong

By Jules Ebe on June 16th 2013

One of our favorite fire-starters, photographer Von Wong, has partnered again with Master Pyrotechnician Andrey DAS to bring us an electrifying series that blends fire, tesla coils, and Paris in the dead of night.

Fire, Tesla Coils, and Shooting Paris by Night

I am pretty sure there are very few words within the English language that could express my excitement when Von Wong release his new Behind the Scenes Video combining three of my favorite things: pyrotechnics, tesla, and Paris.

“Figuring out how to shoot electricity was quite a challenging process. For one, every take came with a sort of “BRACE YOURSELVES!” followed by a couple tens of seconds of intense crackling.” ~ Von Wong

The idea of open flames and the power of the electric currents created by the Tesla Coil is beyond surprising – it is frightening in all the ways that makes the toes tingle. Sensational does not even begin to explain it.

So let’s just let the images speak for themselves. Steampunk fans – begin drooling now.

And here is a little bit of trivia for my fellow geeks: Nikola Tesla, inventor and brilliance behind the modern alternating current (AC) electricity system, use to sit in a room with one of these marvelous towers as it was in use and contemplate his theories and possible inventions.
