Pricing on the Highly Anticipated Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Is Lower than Expected!

By Anthony Thurston on June 13th 2013

Sigma rocked the photography world when it announced this 18-35mm F1.8 zoom lens. It is the first zoom lens ever to have a constant aperture of F1.8, and do to that pricing estimates ranged from $1000 to $1800.

Earlier today Sigma announced the pricing and availability of this lens, and it has everyone going bonkers all over again. This new lens will be available in the USA in early July for a mere $799, much lower than the $1000 to $1800 estimates that had been thrown around.

Pre-Order this Lens now on B&H for $799

I think that this was the right way for Sigma to go with this. People would never really adopt a crop sensor only lens for more than $1000, it would have been a really hard sell. But at $799 that is well within the attainable budget of most crop sensor shooters and so long as the image quality matches the build quality of this lens then I think that sigma may have a best seller type lens on their hands here.
