Photographer Flies Drone Into Groom’s Head

By Anthony Thurston on August 17th 2013

We have have shared some pretty awesome videos before of people using drones to get some awesome shots with their GoPro cameras. Most of the videos we have shared in the past have been to showcase a cool use of the drones, or a good example of what you could achieve. What we have for you today though is an example of  what NOT to do with a drone.

Weddingman123, a YouTube user, uploaded video of him making what could have been a disastrous mistake during one of his wedding shoots. This photographer badly misjudged the time that the drone takes to lift and ended up flying his drone directly into the head of the Groom, and it is all shown in the video below. Check this out:

Apparently the Groom ended up with some cuts and bruises, but was otherwise in good spirits for having just had a drone flown into his head. In fact after taking a few minutes to get cleaned up and collect themselves the bride and groom continued with the shoot and they even requested that the video of the groom getting hit be uploaded online.

So take note aspiring drone pilots, before you take your new toy to a shoot make sure you have a good grasp on its abilities. Lucky for this photographer the bride and groom were good about it, but someone could be badly hurt which could open you up to legal action or at the least a tarnished reputation.

Just what we need as they’re making new laws about using drones / quadcopters for commercial use… More “Fail” videos showing people acting irresponsibly or doing dangerous stuff…

    Just saying….
