Mobile App Captures and Shares Your Street Art Discoveries

By Jules Ebe on May 25th 2013

The 1AM Mobile App is a free community driven photography app that allows you to capture and share your street art discoveries. Not only will you be able to catalogue your own finds, but follow other members and their findings worldwide.

The 1AM Mobile maps, dates, and credits community-contributed photos of street art. Because of the documentary-style archive of images, it can also be used for directions to current and pre-existing pieces in case you want to check them out for yourself. With the constant removal and evolution of street art, the time stamp feature gives a historical chronology to every uploaded piece.

1AM, short for First Amendment, is a gallery dedicated to street and urban art located in San Francisco, CA. The new app is an extension of their community and educational programs.

“In essence, 1AM Mobile will tell you what’s up in the streets and let you take part in documenting street art history.”

A good portion of my fine art work relates to street art and its ephemeral quality. The ability to network and locate new art will become an excellent resource for fans and photographers. I do wonder, however, what the street art community will feel about their work going mobile. One of the things I love about street art is the experience of finding a treasure by accident.

Check out the Apple Store to download the app for free. You can also follow @1AMMobile on Twitter.

Until Next Time …
