Manfrotto Announces Updates To 190 and 055 Series Tripods

By Anthony Thurston on July 6th 2014

A tripod is one piece of gear that is worth investing in for virtually any form of photography. Manfrotto has one of the best reputations in the business when it comes to their tripods – the performance and value are hard to beat.

Manfrotto has just announced some fresh new updates to their 90 series and 055 series tripods, adding some nice improvements that should look great for anyone interested in getting one. Of those improvements, probably the best one is the inclusion of these new Easy Link plugs.

The plugs allow for easily mounting LED lights or other camera accessories to your tripod. It’s one of those things that you see and go “How come no one thought of this sooner?” I know I could have used something like that several times over the last week alone.

Other notable features include:

  • New “Quick Power Lock” for fast, one handed, leg extension.
  • New Rotating Bubble Level
  • Carbon Fiber or Aluminum Construction Options

If you are interested in grabbing one of these new Manfrotto Tripods, you can check them out over on B&H here for the 055 updates, and here for the 190 updates.

I always seem to buy something and then a better model/deal comes along.

I have a 190XB Tripod with 804RC2 3-Way. I am 6’5 and I thought it was a decent set up until I saw the Manfrotto 055XPROB Pro. No more leaning forward at the waist and tilting my neck :) So yes I will be in the market for a new tripod

I love my 055xProB and it’ll probably outlast me, but this new 055 looks really cool.
