Generally speaking, when we’re trying to pose men for lifestyle and fashion portraits, photographers try to expand their presence and accentuate their masculinity, while maintaining a commercial look & feel. It can ironically, often be more complicated than posing women.
In this detailed video from Irene Rudnyk, she and fellow photographer Marc Klaus take their time and explain how and why they shoot male models vs female models in certain light and environmental settings. They also cover how poses, facial expressions, shadows, picking out the wardrobe differs from men to women. They even conclude with a few quick editing / post production tips.
