Learning the Lens Corrections Panel in Lightroom 3

By Christopher Lin on June 22nd 2011

(The Lightroom video tutorial in this post is just under the introductory text below. The working files for this Lightroom video tutorial can be found just above the video.)

The Lens Corrections Panel adjustments are absolutely vital in correcting lens or angle distortion, lens vignetting, as well as chromatic aberrations. In addition, the Lens Corrections Panel now comes with a whole slew of automated lens correction settings that will correct distortion automatically based on the lens used in the metadata of the image.

In this Lightroom video tutorial, we are going to walk you through each of the settings in the Lens Correction panel demonstrating how each setting works.

I used to use Auto Lens Corrections on import but found out that if your image has to make a round trip to Photoshop ALC gets removed. Then when you try to use it on the image your lucky to get any options at all. Have you noticed this and is there a work-a-round that doesn’t entail me using manual mode?
