Portland Maine commercial and portrait photographer Kari Herer’s photographic works have been featured in many publications, including Martha Student Weddings and the Knot. Drawing on her experience in the fine arts and graphic design, as well as her deep love of nature, Kari provides her clients with professional fine art and portrait photography in a variety of beautiful settings.

I was immediately drawn to Kari’s series of still life images, which combine illustration with floral elements. The simple, tactile and feminine compositions are available as prints at Kari’s Etsy shop.

It’s so refreshing to see a floral still life that’s different from all the rest. I would definitely consider these whimsical sketches plus elements of nature to be fine art.

I just want to reach out and touch the delicate petals and branches in each image. I think it’s the contrast between the flat drawings and the organic elements that make them seem even more three dimensional.

I’m so inspired by this technique. What other ways might a photographer combine mediums to create something unique? Have you done something similar? If so, please share a link in the comments. I’d love to see.
