The Photographer Series by Andrew Norton tells the stories behind some of skateboardings most epic images and the dudes who made them.

You have to be nerdy enough to have your camera out in moments when it’s not cool.

Michael Burnett is the editor at large for Thrasher Magazine, which many skaters call “the bible”. He takes an approach that shows skateboarding and skateboarders, warts and all. He loves the absurdity, the random moments. Burnett especially likes all the weirdness that goes on in the periphery. Like the kids at the demos, people who come talk to you while you’re skating, or the strange neighborhoods skating takes you to. It is more than the skateboarder or the shoe company endorsements.

I love the confidence of a man leaving the house for the day with no shirt.
