Melbourne, Australia based photographer Bill Gekas has captured imaginations and several international awards with his series of portraits influenced by classical paintings.
Many of the images are recreations of classical Dutch paintings that are visualized with the aid of his lovely young daughter.
In an interview with Digital Photography School Gekas states:
“Many of the ideas come from my appreciation of the works by the old master painters. Caravaggio, Vermeer, Rembrandt, Raphael, Velazquez etc. But I also find I get a lot of inspiration from watching foreign films where the cinematic scenes play a prominent role. Fusing these worlds together help create an atmospheric portrait.”
Until next time . . .
