I’m just going to start this post by warning you that the following photos are filled with adorable dogs in need. And shirtless men with a whole lot of well toned abs and muscles. There is copious amounts of objectification going on, so if you’re offended by such things, don’t read on. I am willing to look past of all of that for the sake of this article.
They say that the best way for a man to attract a woman is to have him hold a puppy or a baby. Now, I don’t know the exact science of all that, but it works (You’re welcome, single men). In a brilliant marketing move, Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue has released a 2015 calendar to promote animal adoption (a subject near and dear to my heart).
Partnering with celebrity photographer, Mike Ruiz, who adopted his beloved pitbull Oliver in 2012, the shoot took two days and was, unsurprisingly an immediate success. Within 24 hours of the shoot, Louie’s Legacy was inundated with phone calls placing orders. “It has been a wild success, far beyond our expectations. We are so happy that so many more dogs that need to be adopted or fostered will now have the chance,” Mike says. “I just hope that people enjoy the images, and that they are reminded daily that adopting and loving an animal is the most humane thing a person can do. I hope we sell a million so that Louie’s Legacy can broaden their services to be able to help more dogs find forever homes.”
Mike, who has photographed household names such as Kim Kardashian, Nicky Minaj, Betty White and the like, spends much of his time giving back and this charity calendar is one of them. He tells Daily Mail,
I have been so fortunate to have many of my dreams come to fruition and I feel that I need to pay something back.
All proceeds go to the animal shelter and all the dogs in the photos are adoptable. And if you’re wondering, Mike says that most of the men in the photos are single.
If you get nothing else from this article, but perhaps some eye candy and ogling, consider the brilliance in marketing strategy of this entire campaign. These people clearly knew their target demographic (I’m willing to bet the majority of adoptees are women), were willing to think outside of the box and push the envelope to create something remarkable.
