How to Set Up Export Presets for Printing in Lightroom 3

By Pye Jirsa on May 11th 2011

(The Lightroom video tutorial in this post is just under the introductory text below. The working files for this video can be found in any of the articles within the Creating Catalogs and Importing Chapter)

In this video tutorial, we are going to cover the specific settings that are needed for exporting images for print. After setting up our correct print export settings, we will also show you how to create an Export Preset.

When exporting images for print, the most important thing to remember is to make sure that your resolution settings are set properly. Printing resolution needs to be at least 240 pixels per inch, and we recommend keeping at 300 pixels per inch since many printers can utilize that resolution.

When images are not correctly exported for print, they will turn out unsharp or pixelated as there is not enough resolution detail for the printer to create the image.

Check out the video to see all of our export settings for print, as well as how to create a printing Export Preset.

Great!  How do I do that, but apply an ICC Printer profile to it as part of the process?
