Term: Tripod
Description: In the simplest terms, a tripod is a three-legged stand for supporting a camera or other apparatus. Tripods come in a variety of makes, models, and price points, with some better suited for specific applications (such as traveling). The key function of a tripod is to provide stability and minimize (or eliminate) camera shake.

If you do any type of low-light photography, then consider picking up a strong, stable tripod. Even if you shoot mostly in brighter conditions, and could possibly get away with hand-holding, a tripod still helps with achieving a perfectly framed composition, among other things. At the end of the day, regardless of your budget, there is a tripod out there you can get that will serve you well.
