Gain Valueable Experience Behind the Scenes of a Short Film

By Anthony Thurston on August 7th 2013

The best experience you can get in making movies is on set experience, sadly this is a lot harder to come by than one might like. So to try and help all of us film noobs out the guys over at the Indy Mogul YouTube channel put together this great series of videos to give you some “On-Set Experience” with behind the scenes footage from their latest short film.

The experience is split into four videos, each one highlighting one of 4 days of shooting that took place on this short film project. It may not be a Hollywood blockbuster, but it is still very interesting to take a look at how other low budget filmmakers are getting things done.

I don’t know about you, but I love videos like this. It gives me so many ideas on how to deal with problems that I may come across in the film work that I do. Just having the ability to load this up and see how they set up their shots, where they placed their lighting, where they positioned their actors in relation to the camera, how they prepared for each shot. I find it all really interesting.

What are your thoughts on the “experience” that you gained while watching this? Leave a comment below and let us know what you think.
