Fuji Rumored to Scrap X-PRO1s Development in Favor of X-PRO 2

By Anthony Thurston on April 3rd 2014

Fuji has been rumored to be working on an update to their X-Pro1, which they were aptly calling the X-PRO1s. Now those plans seem to have changed, and Fuji is now rumored to have scrapped the whole X-PRO1s concept in favor of a brand new X-Pro2.

What exactly this means is up for interpretation, but if you ask me, Fuji likely looked at the X-Pro1 and decided that it would be better to make more wholesale improvements rather than small updates as an “s” model would likely be. Other theories are that the company wants to let the X-T1 ride a little longer at the top of the Fuji food chain until the release of the new X-Pro2.

Given the overwhelming popularity of the X-T1, this could be a likely reason. Our own Dave Kai Piper recently took a look and was really surprised with the Fuji X-T1. Read why the X-T1 was shocking to him in this article.

Regardless, if you were hoping to get your hands on an X-PRO1s at some point this year, it looks as if you are going to be disappointed.
