Fuji Mega Deal on Saturday’s Deal Dash

By Anthony Thurston on September 26th 2015

It was an interesting week in the photography industry, with rumors of Canon mirrorless cameras and Samsung possibly calling it quits on the camera business. But this post is about deals, and we have some good ones for you today…

Fuji X-A1 Kit Mega Deal

If I were not shooting full frame Sony, Fujifilm is where I would be. They have the best lenses of any mirrorless system and arguably the best long term camera support in the business. If you don’t care about the subtle differences between the APS-C and Full Frame looks, then my mirrorless recommendation is Fujifilm.

Amazon currently has a bit of a megadeal on the Fuji X-A1 with the 16-55mm and 50-230mm lenses for a crazy 65% off (or around $435 in savings), for a total of $399 on the kit. If you have been looking for a cost-effective way to get into the Fujifilm system, this is a hard one to pass up.

If you are interested, you can find the deal over on Amazon here.

Lowepro Slingshot 102AW & 202AW over %60 Off!

Lowepro is probably my favorite ‘standard’ camera bag maker. Sure there are more hipster and stylish bag makers out there, but as far as basic camera bags go, I feel like Lowepro has some of the best quality to value options available.

Their slingshot series of bags are great for day trips and short excursions, and lucky for you Amazon is having a killer deal on these as well.

If you are interested, you can find these Lowepro deals over on Amazon here.

You can find them over on B&H here.

It’s also a great deal on the Fuji system. The 50-230mm is worth the cost of the package. It’s not the fastest lens in the world, but it’s sharp. I use it on every assignment with my X-E1 and the kit lens 18-55mm on a second X-E1. Just a couple of weeks ago I shot four Republican Presidential candidates with that lens.

The kit is worth buying just for the long lens and if you’re already into the Fuji system you can consider the camera and the 16-55mm back up gear.

I can vouch for the Lowepro 102AW – I’ve had that bag for a couple years and it’s held up beautifully. Very handy for hiking with a crop camera and a few lenses. A bit small for full frame cameras – it gets very tight with a gripped D610 and attached 105mm macro. The 202AW is probably a better size if you use bigger cameras or telephoto lenses, while the 102AW is perfect for a crop camera set-up or full frame with smaller primes.

Thanks for the heads up Anthony, looks like a good time for shoppers.

I paid twice that price for my Lowepro, that’s a good deal for a great bag.
