The mirrorless rumor mill is abuzz with the news that Fuji will announce a new 16mm F/1.4 lens within the next day or two.
The rumor indicates that the new lens will feature Nano-GI coating, be able to function in extreme low temperatures like -10, and will retail for $1,150. Other than that, we don’t have too many details regarding this soon-to-be announcement from Fuji. This is effectively Fuji’s 24mm F/1.4 equivalent lens.

The 16mm focal length is a good one for landscape and astro-photographers and while some might wonder about Fuji’s choice of focal length here, given that they already have a 14mm lens in their lineup, it’s important to note that the 14mm is only an F/2.8, so this 16mm is a much better lens where low light and depth of field is concerned.
This lens will no doubt be a popular one, given Fuji’s track record of stunning prime lenses. Stay tuned for the full announcement once it drops.

Their low ISO capabilities beat Nikons DF or D750?
I don’t have a Fuji but I’m jealous. A good, wide, fast, prime is a gap I have in my lenses right now.
Yes, considering that Fuji’s 1.5X sensors have by far the best high ISO performance I have ever seen, I’m definitely going to be in line for this one.
Now all they need to do is offer something that goes to f/2 or f/2.8 and is wider than ~14mm, and I’d certainly invest in the system. Rokinon’s 12mm f/2 is good, but I know Fuji could make one that is even better.

I imagine astro folks are over the moon about this announcement. A 24 f/1.4 lens for FF (what this lens would be the rough equivalent of) is just about as good as it gets for that:
