Benoit Courti’s Expressive, Hauntingly Beautiful B&W Series, ‘Deep Black’

Before becoming a professional photographer, French photographer, Benoit Courti was a music composer. A professional photographer only since 2010, Benoit’s background in music brings out a lyrical depth in his black and white images.

In this series, ‘Deep Black’, Courti creates a series of symbols against a pitch black background. The emotion in each photograph stand out in the stark contrast of each background. His thought behind the process was to:

[Illuminate] simple subjects, minimal compositions whilst preserving a strong expressiveness.
