Freefalling From Space: The Video

By Joseph Cha on October 15th 2013

Red Bull is known for do some extreme things that sometimes don’t make sense. The most notable being the recent “sending a man to space and having him jump back to earth” stunt.

On October 14, 2012, Austrian Skydiver (now spacediver?) Felix Baumgartner flew 24 miles into the air, and plummeted back to earth, breaking the sound barrier during his descent.

Now Red Bull has released a Point of View video of Felix Baumgartner’s freefall, along with some nifty mission data. You can see exactly how fast he’s falling, reaching incredible speeds of Mach 1.26.

This is basically the most exciting parts of the movie Gravity in 10 minutes.
