DIY Highlight: Build your Own Full Body Background Stand with PVC

By Anthony Thurston on April 23rd 2013

Are you thinking about getting into studio photography but would rather build your own Background Stand instead of buying an expensive setup? Well then this DIY post over at DIY Photography is something that you should look into.  The project is simple, to build a DIY Lightstand with PVC piping. The best part is it should cost you less than $30. Head on over to DIY photography for the directions and materials list.

If I were to ever build a DIY project to use in a professional application a Background Stand is probably one of the few things I think you could get away with. I mean really, paint the PVC black and assuming you set it up in your studio and leave it up then most people will be none the wiser. Now what I would not use this for is a portable studio setup, where you are taking it apart and building it at the location you’re shooting. All the parts to put this together would waste too much time and that is a case where a standard Background Stand would be much faster.

What do you guys think? Would you ever use a DIY Background Stand?
