Just got mine in the mail today. I got the 35 and this which I refer to as the “AF Carl Ziessie Lenses”. I mean they are better than those overprice carl ziess Lenses in the past.
i can’t comment from a Nikon perspective but this lens is better than the Canon 50 1.2 L and it is almost 1/2 the price. People rave about the 35 ART, but this one stands out as the best sigma lens that has been produced. I would go as far as to say that it would be worth it to sell the L lens and buy this. Keep in mind though, I don’t believe this has weather sealing and it is significantly heavier than the Nikon/Canon versions.
Weather sealing is so overrated.
To bad this deal is not work in UK! I love to grab one of those for my len Collection. I already had 35mm and 85mm, I had to say, for the price and quality, sigma is always my first choice for third party len.
The majority of my lenses are Sigma Art lenses. I have been very impressed with them and might see the day when my entire lens kit is Sigma.
Still pondering this. I already have a great 35mm and 85mm. Do I really “need” a 50? Part of me says yes, part of me says that there is nothing I can’t reasonably do with either the 35 or 85. Decisions decisions.
Nice, time to upgrade!
I almost bought it yesterday at full price – glad I waited a day!
Got mine today – FANTASTIC!
I own it. Great lens!
great deal
A perfect time to exchange my Nikon 50mm 1.4! Thanks!
Is it that better to justify the cost?
I would like to try if before replacing my Nikkor 1.4
@rafael steffen
it is better. not two times better or 4 times better (50 1.8G)
first time in history a sigma lens costing more than the nikon equivalent!
and two times as expensive. wow I must be in bizzaro world (seinfeld).
